Many people have the misconception that if your genset only runs for an hour or so a week, its oil will last for years. But that is not the case. Standby generator oil will actually degrade much quicker when run for short intervals.
If left untreated, contaminated oil can lead to engine failure and expensive repair bills. For that reason, here at FOI laboratories, we recommend quarterly maintenance and analysis. We have put together an oil testing package which will help identify small issues before they become big problems.
